JLPT
The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a standardized exam that evaluates and certifies the Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers. It assesses reading, listening, and grammar knowledge at multiple levels. The test is administered by the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) and is held twice a year, usually in July and December, in numerous countries worldwide.
The JLPT has five levels, ranging from N5 (lowest) to N1 (highest). Here's a brief overview:
- N5: Basic level. Assesses understanding of simple expressions, daily vocabulary, basic grammar, and sentence structures.
- N4: Slightly higher than N5. Covers additional grammar, vocabulary, and more complex sentence structures.
- N3: Intermediate level. Focuses on grammar, reading, and listening skills. Often considered a milestone for those planning to work or study in Japan.
- N2: Advanced level. Targets complex grammar, extensive vocabulary, and higher-level reading and listening comprehension.
- N1: Most advanced level. Assesses comprehensive language skills suitable for academic and professional contexts, including complex reading materials, advanced grammar, and high-level listening comprehension.
